Event summary for ISPOR-S Extraordinary General Meeting
26th Feb 2019
The extraordinary meeting was attended by 16 ISPOR-S members on 26th February 2019.
The evening was graced by Professor Jaime Cairo, Chief Scientist, Evidera, who challenged ISPOR-S with the prospects of health economics and outcomes research. He shared that as patients become more involved and informed of their health and treatment options, payers and health providers would need to better position themselves to elaborate on the the value of health interventions and outcomes.
The ISPOR-S work plan 2019 was also shared by the Chapter’s President, Assistant Professor Wee Hwee Lin. The Chapter would see collaborations with HTAsiaLink and National University of Singapore Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health to develop guidance on real world evidence collection in health technology assessment. In addition, a collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore is established to promote understanding of health economics and outcomes research among pharmacists in Singapore. Future Chapter events include a health technology assessment in medical devices with an aim to develop an understanding of the complexities of conducting economic evaluation of medical devices.
The fruitful evening was then concluded with a commentary on drug/device value propositions in a universal health coverage world by Mr. Chris Hardesty, Director, KPMG Singapore Life Sciences.
